The big “secret” to sustainable health?
Here is the takeaway from my 10+ years as a doctor. The “secret” to staying “healthy” or “getting in shape” is to constantly practice some version of these 3 steps:
1) Understand your root causes of health and disease
2) Identify your transformational habits
3) Execute habit strategy to make put your learning into action
Growing up in Chicago, I developed a passion for the type of healing that empowers.
That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to helping people fight back against lifestyle-related chronic conditions by taking control of their habits.
After earning degrees from Princeton University (BA), then University of Pennsylvania Medical School (MD) and Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (MPH), I completed my residency training in Family Medicine at Northwestern Medicine (Chicago, IL) and worked there as an adult hospitalist doctor after graduation.
I prescribed plenty of long-term and immediately life-saving treatments (like GLP-1 injections and blood pressure meds). All the while, it was clear to me that although these meds were required to manage my patients’ severe level of chronic disease, might not have suffered complications or been needed at all if our healthcare system had helped these patients build healthier lifestyles years to decades earlier.
Across the board, in the tens of thousands of patients I’ve helped heal, their everyday habits were the key to whether they simply continued to survive or finally began to thrive.
